Every non-rainy day I bike to work, I see the same strange thing.
Usually around the same block, even, because my timing is pretty consistent.
I turn through a corner, and then as I’m biking down this big block, I see the same totally out of place sight.
There’s a tall white guy, in a suit, riding a Segway, coming the opposite direction.
Every time, he just seems so out of place in every way. He’s a foreigner, that’s only a little odd, I see a fair number of other obvious foreigners (read: people easily differentiated by features and skin) on bikes and walking around too. He’s wearing a suit, which isn’t really that weird at all, except for the fact that he’s zooming around in the open dirty air on a Segway, which is totally nuts to me. He’s even riding against the flow of traffic, which only adds to the weirdness.
Of course, it’s only a matter of time until I come to regard not seeing him as being unusual. One of these days I should say hi or something, but it’s hard because we’re going opposite directions and I’m usually racing down the block to catch the next light.

do you often accost obvious foreigners? or i guess in this case, it’s unusual b/c it’s one you see all the time (?)
where i’m at, in the more countryside area, any foreigner is unusual, so i once in awhile say something if i’m in the mood. but sometimes i get really rude replies, and maybe they have the right to reply as they wish, but i dunno, makes me less encouraged to approach. though other times, it’s really cool.
but anyway, good luck with the segway dude. maybe he’ll let you take a ride on it one of these days.

I don’t think I’ve really accosted anybody yet, so no, I don’t often.
I haven’t seen him this week though, maybe his schedule changed. Oh well.
