I saw this article that explains that he’s going to go to a festival in spite of warnings that people are going to be making a big deal about his appearance. (Pictures in the article, he had a bunch of surgery done on his face and so as he put it, he “ain’t a pretty boy no more”. )

For me, even if I don’t always agree with the movies he likes, I do always like reading his reviews. I think he’s a really fun critic to read, and doing so has certainly contributed some amount to fostering an appreciation of film, in me. I think it’s great that he’s not letting anything get in the way of his own infectious love of movies. Also, it’s good to see that his operations haven’t affected his sense of humor, with the remarks quoted at the end of the article.
