Barring significant new information in the next couple of days, I think I’ve just about finished putting together my bracket for this year’s NCAA tournament.

I know pretty much nothing about how to pick teams so I rely on information that can be readily gleaned from the internet. Last year I made most picks based solely on various lines I could find from online bookkeepers and it did very poorly (no surprise there).

This year, I have taken to dropping pairs of teams into blog search engines and seeing what commentary other people have. From there I tried to make a decision based on the aggregate of most persuasive people.

I’ve entered the bracket into a couple for-fun pools on facebook, and I’m probably going to put it in to a few other free contests before they close for entries.

When I put it into these other ones, I should be able to provide a link for you to see just how silly my bracket is.

As of right now, I am still unsure of who among Florida, Georgetown, Kansas, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, UNC and Wisconsin I want to put into the final four. I’ll have to have this decided before Thursday of course.

I also think it is frustrating how on all of these brackets, if I choose a team to lose in the early round, I am not allowed to place them in a later round. Admittedly this seems unorthodox and perhaps even stupid, but, it should still be possible such that even if my first pick is wrong my second pick would be right.
