Ah it has been some time since I have decided to take the time to write something up here. I know over the last week or so I’ve had a number of ideas that I remember thinking “oh that’s pretty clever maybe I could write about that” but I never really comitted very seriously to any of them.

So, with that said, at the behest of apparently eager readers, I will instead simply recount what’s going on with me.

I’m currently in Berkeley, CA. The weather here is pretty sweet, though I regret having not packed any shorts because it is surprisingly hot a lot of the time here. I thought it was supposed to be cooler but I guess not. I don’t really know how long I’ll be here, but it will be for at least long enough to vote here, I think. To clarify, I am registered to vote here in Berkeley. I also have a library card, which is way easier to obtain here than those for the Chicago public library.

The other day, for the first time I think ever, I wasn’t carded when buying alcohol. This struck me as very strange but maybe things are just more lax around here.

Hmmm right, so to continue with this very incoherent narrative, I’m only going to be here for a little longer. I’m not sure exactly how long yet because I am trying to figure out when tickets do not cost quite so horrifically much for going to Shanghai. I will be moving there just as soon as I can figure out this ticketing business and get my visa.

What else… what else? I am finding that I am not so good at this whole socializing thing, in that I don’t really do it now that I’m out of the college environment. I don’t know anybody around here so I find that most evenings are pretty boring. I do not mind as I am getting a ton of reading done, which I suspect will be largely impossible when I am in China. This is not to say that I wouldn’t prefer to have fun things to do, merely that I don’t mind not having them.

I don’t know, that’s all I can really think of to say at the moment. I’m going to go eat some lunch and take a walk I think.
