boring layout

June 26th, 2006 · 2 Comments

So I’m in Northboro, MA right now, with my cousins and aunt and uncle. I was talking to my cousins and they were telling me about Xanga and how I should totally use that intead of wordpress because it is so much better. I tried to explain how I have no need for Xanga, very few people I know use it and for those that do I still have an account such that I might comment and if people want to follow the links from my Xanga to here, that’s entirely within their options.

Evidently, this here blog is entirely too boring. Not enough graphics, not enough sound, not enough, well, in my opinion, clutter. I admit, sitting here with the default theme almost completely unmodified save for a few links down the right sidebar is pretty boring, but, that’s ok with me. I like to think that what little appeal this site has, has to do with its substance not style. I mean, I figure especially given that a couple people are using the feed where the formatting of this page would be irrelevant, that has to be true enough.

I suppose really that this is about what I’d expect though. I mean, I don’t mean to.. condescend or anything, ok, well, I do, and I don’t imagine they’ll ever read this as this is buried beneath far too many words for them to notice. They’re young and relatively, well, inexperienced with the Internet and don’t seem to really appreciate the benefits of choosing a text color that contrasts well enough with the background color so as to be readable. Oh well.

All right, I think I’m going to go read for a while or something. To Boston tomorrow to meet up with Anthony, and perhaps more depending on how things go.

Ahh, that hurts. Were not THAT inexperienced. We just prefer a more creative layout.

See that’s the thing, I think while most of your peers might agree with you on the merits of such creativity, you will find that most people I know tend to value websites a little less… garish.
