While this is old news to many, I suspect, at this point, I am finding myself quite amused both by the original ad itself, as well as the parodies it has spawned.
Apparently Sony made an ad for their [tag]Bravia[/tag] televisions and it got lots of attention for being a pretty neat looking [tag]ad[/tag].
I’ll pause here momentarily to remark on how it seems that for all that I may not like advertising saturation in the world, I am still actively seeking out ads to watch. I wonder what it is about ads that make them a more appealing display of creativity to me than other mediums. Maybe it’s because they’re short? heh.
Anyhow, after this original ad was released, it seems it’s been parodied a bit. One particularly amusing (I think) one is the one for [tag]Tango[/tag] beverages. I found it through Cool Hunting, and the parody itself can be viewed here.
Later when trying to re-find this particular parody, I was googling for the phrase “bravia parody” and came across another parody, this one done as [tag]Machinima[/tag] (def, wiki, examples). I think it’s a game called Battlefield 2 or something, maybe “Mine 2″ I don’t know. Googling the phrase “mine 2″ yields a google video hosted version of this video so, who knows. Anyway, this one was pretty amusing to me as well, but then I guess the whole notion of machinima has always been kind of fascinating to me as well.
