Today I was talking with somebody and having some more tea, and I became very self concious just as we were leaving that I was talking really really fast. Usually I don’t have so much caffeine, especially not when I’m already pretty well rested. I know, this sounds rather pathetic, saying I think there is considerably additional effect of caffeine past the first one or two cups, but, it really did seem that way to me.
I don’t know if I was actually talking faster though, or merely thinking I was. Am I unintelligible often? Do I start gibbering and nobody actually has any idea what I’m saying?
This happened last week too, when I had a bunch of soda over lunch, when I got back to work, later, while I wasn’t talking, I did definitely notice being a bit more chatty and scatterbrained on instant messenger.
And they tell me I talk too much when I drink too. I can’t ingest anything.

Maybe you just talk too slowly when you’re sober.

Well the issue with the drinking wasn’t so much the speed of talking, I gather, as my failure to shut up. Whereas I suppose it is possible I talk too slowly without caffeine, I suspect it unlikely.
