This hasn’t been so much a problem since I’ve been back in the US, because, I am not very tall here. But while I was in [tag]China[/tag], I was not so relatively short. This one time, while I was in Shanghai, we went to this outdoor market, but it was raining. So while many people just sort of huddled under the stalls’ coverings, those moving around usually had [tag]umbrellas[/tag]. Even as tourist filled as that market was, it was still predominatly people shorter than me. Consequently, every time I tried to move around, it was like this dangerous game of dodging eye-pokage.
Anyway yesterday, I was reminded of this because yet again somebody shorter than I, carrying an umbrella, decided it would be a good idea to randomly and suddenly adjust their walking speed on the sidewalk, and I nearly had one of the spoke things poke into my glasses (hooray protective covering) but dodged enough such that instead it only caught my hat.
Of course, being the polite person that I am, I apologized and carried on my way. And so ends my random anecdote.
