I have just now (well, 40 minutes ago) waken from a catastrophically over-slept nap. I need to rearrange my schedule such that I don’t have to stretch the nap times from the outset or I need to abandon this venture, at least until I can have a more suitable schedule.
I guess with that in mind, I’m going to call this attempt off. After a kind of pathetic 3/4 days depending on how I regard the flight home from Beijing, I’m done. I’m a little disappointed with how I’ve done, and really I don’t think I’ve really come to my complete limit yet, but I’m unwilling to get there as the cost in terms of my classwork would be too great.
So now instead of taking my 10 nap, I’m going to just stay awake for a little bit and get back to a “normal” monophasic schedule.
All told, even this very short attempt I feel was a very informative experience, and I’m quit anxious to give this another shot when I’ve a schedule that is better suited.¬† I am well aware that this kind of schedule won’t just come to me so easily, but, I’m fine with that for now.¬† However, until then, I’m done with this attempt.¬† Back to the grind, as it were.

I agree, starting in Beijing would have been an ideal move, however it just wasn’t practical. The week (or even weeks) before my return to the US were marked by a lot of travel and being a tourist all of which involved being out on the town for more than 4 hours at a time. Consequently, I just wasn’t really anxious to go out and find places I could fall asleep in public in China.
Perhaps Spring quarter, huh?

I guess. I don’t think it’s practical to start the schedule and try to be productive, though. If you’re not doing anything the week before spring quarter starts, it might be possible, but I can’t imagine you’d be able to do something fun for spring break and get accustomed to the schedule.
